Acoustic guitar and vocals — solo and duo performances for venues and events.
About
Mark Kibort is a California native who began playing the guitar at age ten. He grew up in a household shaped by music and education; his mother was a teacher and an opera singer, and both of his parents played the piano. His father was a pilot who flew in the Korean War before a long career with United Airlines. He flew passenger jets until his mandatory retirement, a long tenure that was a testament to his lifelong love of being in the air.
Mark graduated from Cal Poly with a degree in Business Administration, though he originally pursued engineering. He spent several decades in the high-tech sector working in sales while remaining a dedicated athlete. An All-American in track and field, he later appeared as a contender on the TV show American Gladiators. He also continues to compete in auto racing and previously had the opportunity to race in the Speedvision GT World Challenge sports-racing series.
Though he had been playing guitar since his youth, Mark began performing publicly across the San Francisco Bay Area in 2021. He first teamed up with a friend to form the acoustic duo "Just One More", playing classic rock and pop hits. The duo performed hundreds of shows at local wine bars, restaurants, and private events, and opened for the band Dada at the Art Boutiki in San Jose.
Now performing primarily as a solo artist, Mark plays weekly and has established a steady presence as a resident musician at several venues throughout the South Bay. His repertoire spans a wide variety of music, ranging from the classic rock and pop hits of the 1960s, 70s, and 80s to songs by artists such as Tom Petty, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Stone Temple Pilots, and Dave Matthews.
Mark remains active in masters track and field and is a three-time national champion in his age group in the decathlon and 200-meter dash. He also stays involved in the sport by coaching track at local schools. When he isn’t at the track or on stage, he stays active through water and snow skiing and prioritizes spending time with his two sons.
